Parents without Parents is a group for people who, for whatever reason, are parenting without the support of their own parents. This could be due to death, illness, geographical separation or relationship difficulties.
We aim to meet occasionally to socialise and offer support to each other. If you are parenting without either or both of your parents around for whatever reason, please come and join us for coffee, cake and company.
The group was started by a myLifePool member Michelle who lost her mother shortly after the birth of her first child, the group started out as ‘Mothers without Mothers’.
At our first meet up we identified that this group could serve a much wider group of people, not just Mothers. We also discovered through a local Mother whose daughter and grandchildren live on the other side of the country, that this group also works the opposite way around.
There are many parents who, for whatever reason, can not offer hands on support to their children or grandchildren and miss those connections. There are also people who have not had children who have the time and enjoy offering support and friendship to those who do.
Our goal is to build on this group and connect people, so if you are parenting without a parent or grandparenting without a parent. Or if you are someone that enjoys sees the value in offering friendship and support to others, please join this group and come along to our meet ups when you can.
